Meet a few of our club members!

Michelle Colcerin, CC - Club President - "I joined Toastmasters in January 2010.  I had been looking at new job descriptions which included "the ability to give dynamic presentations".  The only presentations I knew how to give were fitness classes.  I knew I needed to get more instruction.  Since joining, my whole life is changing.  I am developing leadership skills that I can incorporate into my everyday life.  I have more self-confidence now that I know how to communicate my thoughts, how to conduct myself in business meetings, and how to present myself in a more professional manner.  I even had the confidence to participate in 2 speech contests.  I am looking forward to many more Toastmaster experiences."

Emi Holm, CL - VP of Public Relations - "I have been a member since April 2007.  I joined because I was promoted to a managerial position and knew I needed some tips and practice on giving evaluations and feedback as that was part of my new job.  I thoroughly enjoy the communication and leadership aspects that the club has to offer.  One of my favourite parts of our club’s meeting is the giving of the Toast.  We practice giving toasts because you just never know when your sister is going ask you to give the Christmas toast!"
Robert W. Johnson, DTM - Treasurer - "I have been a member of Battlefords Toastmasters Club 1512 since it was chartered in March of 1977.  I joined the Wascana Toastmasters Club 577 in Regina in 1969, because I could not speak to any group or even one intimidating individual in an effective manner.  I continue to belong in an effort to constantly put into practise what my training has taught me, otherwise I start to backslide, and old habits creep in. I notice this happens even during the summer break.  I enjoy all aspects of the meeting, but must admit that parliamentary procedure is my favourite part."
Barb Mitchell, ATMS - Area Governor - "I joined Toastmasters in September 1996.  At that point in my life, I was competing on a new job which required presentation skills.  That need brought me to the door of Battlefords Toastmasters.  I was successful in attaining the job and have stayed a member ever since because I recognize the value of the Toastmasters program.  Being a member has also given me the opportunity to meet some great people from all walks of life.
Rena Weikle, DTM - Division E Governor - "I have been a member since 1998 and joined after my divorce as I knew I needed to meet people and expand my network.  I immediately embraced the positive atmosphere that Toastmasters promotes.  Having attained my Distinguished Toastmaster I stay to help my fellow Toastmasters attain their goals."
Don - "I joined Toastmasters in April of 2007. I joined to improve my presentation skills, but I immediately understood the extended value of belonging to the organization. I took hold of the leadership track and quickly became immersed in the myriad of opportunities that are available to hone my skills in this area. I have used these skills to both advance my career and my community involvement. My favourite part of the meeting is the evaluation. Immediate feedback provides us with the opportunity to grow and improve what we are doing.  Although I came to Toastmasters for the knowledge, I remain a member because of the people. I have never met more enthusiastic and supportive people who are as interested in my growth as they are in their
own.
